Got the text saying I won a $1000 gift card from best buy. One little problem, I never entered anything and NEVER gave Best Buy my phone number. Obviously this is a scam, DO NOT ANSWER IT!
Got text telling I won the Best Buy give card I had entered a contest for. I never entered a contest. Best Buy website is .com, not .net. Pretty sure it's a phishing scam.
Heads up for ANYONE who got this scam text message on your cell phone. Check with your provider ASAP to be VERY sure that this did not activate a $10.00 charge on your phone bill!! ($9.99 is what usually shows up.)
If you have mistakenly opened the message, they can and will automatically charge your account, and you have to get in touch with your cell provider to make sure it is removed and they place a block against the number. This was what our cell provider informed us to do whenever this happens. I just got off the phone with Verizon - yup - I accidentally opened up the text and it did indeed put a $9.99 charge onto our account. Got that taken care of instantly.
We have been through this before - with 3 cells on one account. So far, they have only hit my husband's and mine, and have not hit our son's number.
