I received a call from Pristine Asset Group asking for payment on an old debt. I was immediately suspicious because the credit card they were trying to collect on had been closed for over 10 years with a zero balance. I tried calling the number back and only received the automated system of Pristine Asset Group. I did some research and found that Pristine Asset Group is run by a shady family of crooks. His brothers - Kenny Han and Andy Han - have opened up businesses under fictitious names along with his sister Jasmyne "Mimi" Han (Shoemaker). Jasmyne "Mimi" Han Shoemaker is the sister of Thai Han and his personal assistant who was responsible for hiding all the illegal funds from his business. If you receive a call from Amphastartrade, Pristine Asset Group, Ascension Law Firm. REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY to the FTC, BBB, and State Bar. I will be filing a complaint, but the more the better!
We lost our home and EVERYTHING in it in the California Wildfires of 2007. We previously had PERFECT credit, but after the fire everything changed, even though we took a second/third job to mitigate the costs of rebuilding our lives. We settled all our debts with a debt recovery program which we entered post-fire---hard enough to stomach losing everything we owned (we were not home when the fire hit) but to suffer the loss of our good credit in the aftermath was almost worse. We have recently begun rebuilding our lives and this woman calls claiming we still owe a debt from 2011? that her "client" Cloud something now owns all rights to.???? We paid off everything by giving this company every last cent we had to negotiate the settlement on debt we incurred AFTER the fire due to insurance issues, etc. We are going to lawyer up now (so much for any plans to get back on our feet!!!) and we will file a complaint if she continues to call our phones, employers, etc. ===she made threats on voicemail and told us "Good Luck" after calling us with one last "courtesy call" warning us that she was now calling our employer, etc. and sent a letter demanding we pay or face legal action. We've been scammed twice since the fire since we basically just trusted people at their word but now we are cautious. Disturbing that these people prey on people who have already suffered without any humanity.
So here's an update---our lawyer told us that Pamela Tsao is closely linked to a couple people who the FTC went after and WON judgements against for millions of dollars for unfair debt collection practices in 2013. But these people never learned their lessons because they have started up again, only a different name. The lawyer is reporting them to the FTC and Mimi Shoemaker (aka Mimi Han---Thai Han, one of the people who was forbidden to ever collect debt for at least 20 years) is the owner of Cloud Portfolio Recovery, PC. Interestingly, both Ascension and Cloud Portfolio Recovery were companies started within 10 days of each other from April 1 - 10th, 2014. Pamela Tsao was the original Katten Firm lawyer representing Thai Han (for only a day or so) in the FTC suit against their fraudulent debt collection company. So all this to say, the lawyer is filing reports against them and hopefully they will be shut down once and for all! These people are the scum of the earth and I hope they go down, never to resurface again!
They sound like bottom-feeders. Thank goodness you seem to have a sharp attorney who is aware of these "people" (Sorry, I can't type the profane word that comes to mind when I think of them). Best of luck to you and yours....
A gentleman named "Tyler" called me from this number claiming to be a representative for Ascension Law Group who was "suing me". He stated that paperwork regarding the debt liened against me were sent to my home address. He would not confirm what this was in regards to or, who the debtor was. He stated that if I didn't sign for the paperwork which was on its way to my house that they would be sending it to my employer.
