Same story. Got a recorded call from Steve Martin with the Dept. of Treasury. However the caller ID on my phone showed it was coming from Patricia Oster with the number 714-968-7329 which is the only reason I answered the phone. I called the number of Patricia and got a guy saying she wasn't home and that he had not made any calls. looked her number up and she lives in Huntington, Beach, CA. Then I returned the call with the number on the recording and Sean Michael (with obvious accent) answered and I asked to speak with Steve Martin. The connection was bad and he hung up.
I received a call from this number telling me that they were the Treasury Dept. trying to collect past due IRS taxes and that I was a warrant for my arrest and I would put in jail for 1 year. This must be a scam of some sort.
Definitely a scam. Received a call this morning, they left a message saying it was the "second attempt" (it wasn't) and when I called the Indian guy "Steve Martin" back I got his phony US Treasury voicemail. I waited a few minutes then called back again. He answered and asked me if my name was Amanda. I said no. Told me there is a warrant out for my arrest because of incorrectly filed taxes in 2010 and 2011. I asked him some pretty straightforward questions and when he couldn't answer me logically or in proper English I told him to @$?# off, for lack of a better term. Where do people find the time to do this kind of crap?
