I got roped into this because I had a charge for $92 in my account was listed under now look, a company that does not exist! my bank, Google and the Visa company cannot find any information on it.when I call the number it says it is not set up to receive incoming calls. I read that it might be a collection agency I have no collections on my credit report for that amount so now I have to go jump through hoops to try to get my money back!!!! I am definitely reporting this!!!!
I received a call from this number this morning and didn't answer as the caller ID said NY and I know no one in NY. Caller left a voice mail stating he was from Abram Scott & Associates and had documents with my name and address on them and the voice mail was considered me being served. I have a standard voice mail greeting that doesn't say who I am only the number. I assume its some kind of scam.
It is a scam, you can't be served over the phone. Sounds like a boiler room, bottom feeder debt buyers that buy up information on SOL debt or got information from the computer.
I received a call from this number this morning, just exactly like MB and MIM stated, I know no one in NY and the voicemail is not clear and sounds weird from the background! It is the second time I ever get scam call like this, really maddening!
Ok this is the deal. These guys are debt collection lawyers’ version of ambulance chasers. They take on cases without checking whether the debt is real, statute of limitation has expired, or any other legal stuff like that. They hand over the phone number and a few case details to one of their flunkies and then they go to work. Like any other low life collector, they're shooting for anywhere from 10 to 50 cents on the dollar. Of course since no collection means no money, they don't want to hear the debt is not yours, or you paid it, or anything like that. By the way, they are under investigation by many different state attorney generals. So don't waste time with the Feds, report them to your state's legal authorities.
