716-402-2005
Does not leave message. Picked up on call waiting, not certain as to who it was. Nothing. After saying "Hello" louder and louder several times, I finally got a person, who was very pleasant, but who stated the delay was because the calls were made by a computer. Companies who call should show their names on caller ID. That computer uses up answering machine time and the lack of identification makes it appear to be a crank call. It's upsetting, especially when there are crises in ones personal life and any phone call could be friends or family with sad news, to recieve calls with static or empty air on the other side.
The Same Thing Happened To Me and I'm on the "Do Not Call" list . It seems like I'm getting more of these no answer nuisance calls now that I'm on the "do not call list" . The calling number was 716-402-2005.
Usually, "blank" calls (no one/no message/just music) are simply testing to see if the line is picked up. That would indicate a possible prospect. There is no specific company, other than the outfit that is compiling a database of "live" numbers to sell. Once you pick up, they have what they wanted -- a valid number. Further, the numbers are often culled out by demographics (hence, the multiple calls): one may be for numbers in your zip code; the next, for members of church or civic organizations (that sold their databases); again, for political party members, or seniors, and so on. Each time the line is picked up, it verifies that number. Some of the more sophisticated systems have a "sucker score" -- e.g. - the little old lady who picks up the phone every time is a big winner (actually, she's not as big as the person who picks it up consistently at a given time of day -- far more informative about whether or not they're working, etc.)
Keep getting calls from this number several times a day. When I call back, I get an arrogant message that says, "this is a marketing call and you will get calls in the future." There is NO way to block or get taken off the list.
