ok so im still in school, so im flat out appalled at the fact that im gettin such a weird and random letter, im not even 18 yet, so i dont understand why i would be a target, also this is an update!! My letter says they call theyreslves "The Secret Society" and basically how they spent alot of 'time, money, and effort' and 'held meetings' to finding me.
CONGRATULATIONS! You found me! =) its kinda creepy, the letter, althogh i must admit a was a bit flattered at first. it said how they found me through my profile (what prfile?!?!) and how my 'traits' were 'truly impressive' yeah right!! haha and they were pretty determined by theyre words to get me to recieve the 'FREE' 'Forbidden Knowledge' in the form of a '112 page Forbidden System titled: MAKE ALL PEOPLE RICH<INCLUDING THE POOR'
And the fact that the signature read <KATIE> yet the name printed under read KATE. Dont know who these people are but they sure know us...
I got a letter like most of the responses here. Of course this sounds too good to be true. How did they find me and realize that I was so special. I see some of the people here say they lost their jobs and were scammed online. Take a look at this website. http://www.deliveringonthepromise.com/12284966. You may find what you are looking for.
My son did not get a call, but he did get the letter: dated May 23, 2009 and had to respond via mail or fax by May 29, 2009. He laughed after reading just a few lines, but I wanted to be more humored and read the entire eight pages. Every once in a while I would giggle and read a few lines to him and he got a kick out of it too. We knew from the get-go that it is a scam, but enjoyed the humor while it lasted.
Son's name was mentioned several times throughout the letter as was the continuous reminder that "Mark Hamilton's Neothink: From Ordinary to Extraordinary, 128-pages, absolutely free" ("absolutely free" being in bold letter). This "Mark Hamilton" also claims "The Hualapai Indians in Arizona benefit enormously from me and from the building of the Grand Canyon Skywalk on their land". I searched and found no mention of this "Mark Hamilton", but the Grand Canyon Skywalk "was funded by the Hualapai Indian tribe in partnership with Chinese-American businessman David Jin" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk).
I wanted to know more about these people ("Mark Hamilton" and "Jennifer"), so I did some research and found this message board. I just want to tell all of you that we are turning the letter over to the United States Postal Service and let them do whatever it is they do about mail fraud.
ireceived this letter copyright 2009, Kevin mentioned signed by John.
My pulse went up. my head started to ache, anxiety sets in and I am eager to respond, however I sent the Fax before the three days expired. What will happen, I do not know.I do hope that I do not have to go to the Crazyhoue. I am extremely scared. Nervaline
Isnt Kevin the formar mail man that can teach you how to make rediculis amounts of mony through a web site. and is forever sending e-mails with a seminar about meeting a rich parent at a little leauge game. then delivering the guys mail, being invited back to learn how to get rich on the web with the computer doing all of the work. "for just $150.00 you to can learn the trick" of course they want a credit card number.
I cant be sure but would be willing to bet it's the same dirt bag.
I did'nt receive a call, but a letter instead saying how special I was. So I did some research on Google. thank god. to good to be true. Total SCAM!!!
Thank God for the internet.
