ok so im still in school, so im flat out appalled at the fact that im gettin such a weird and random letter, im not even 18 yet, so i dont understand why i would be a target, also this is an update!! My letter says they call theyreslves "The Secret Society" and basically how they spent alot of 'time, money, and effort' and 'held meetings' to finding me.
CONGRATULATIONS! You found me! =) its kinda creepy, the letter, althogh i must admit a was a bit flattered at first. it said how they found me through my profile (what prfile?!?!) and how my 'traits' were 'truly impressive' yeah right!! haha and they were pretty determined by theyre words to get me to recieve the 'FREE' 'Forbidden Knowledge' in the form of a '112 page Forbidden System titled: MAKE ALL PEOPLE RICH<INCLUDING THE POOR'
And the fact that the signature read <KATIE> yet the name printed under read KATE. Dont know who these people are but they sure know us...
So, the moral of the story: "Fake gets Fake". Never create fake email ids. But, had you used something like, say, "DevilInTheDen420" etc., they wouldn't have guessed it.
He he he .... just joking.
Hey Mark, it could be just a coincident they used a name which also happens to be your email also. They must have bought the names/addresses from some company. And i six month's time they have also increased the total pages in the letter to 8.
You can discuss it with your friends / neighbors and give your name and their address. In this way, at least these thugs and scammers will remain in confusion about your actual identity.
Congrats! for being promoted to "stage two".
btw, what did you do to get promoted from "stage one" to "stage two".
What all "stages" are there and what's the difference between them?
Please let me know.
Yeah, I know what they want. all they need is your Social Security Number (SSN), credit card number (if you have any, because credit card rules are getting very strict these days), bank account details .... what else these scammers want from you?
It can be a religious cult or can also be some anti-social group.
Did anyone actually get teh "secret" book?
I can't think of any famous late night talk show host that was in dire straights 7 years ago.
Yes, obviously, the 8 page letter has made me a little curious, thus resulting in me writing this post.
If you recently received a strange letter with no return address in a ’red and blue’ envelope, think twice before responding. Inside, you’ll find a return envelope with the nondescript ’INVITATION PROCESSING’ to an address in Dover, Delaware, not too far from Wilmington, Delaware. While my name and number is ’unlisted’, it wasn’t hard to figure out how they got the information. The very fact a lot of people got these letters is indicative it is indeed a scam. Granted, nothing is said about sending in money. As how they got the information from my profile, its pretty clear that they may have bought an address list from Facebook or has been suggested, ‘Spokeo‘ among other sold lists. While I like Facebook as a site, they have to make money some way, hence all the games like ’Farmville’ and ’Mafia’ and whatever - sad to say a lot of people play this garbage. One time I thought about doing one of those survey things that get passed out on the site, however, I was smart enough to read the ’fine print’ which indicated information would be accessible to interested parties - at that point, I didn’t go any farther. From what I understand from looking on the web, the party sending you this junk will send you a 56-page book to eventually hit one up for $149 for a 1,000 manuscript. According to one person who did follow through, it didn’t even give the secret. Lets be honest here, the only way one can succeed beyond the one in a million chance of winning a state lottery, is by study and motivation from within. When I ’googled’ the fax number, another complaint site came up and on it is mention of a name called, Nouveau Society. It is alleged the letter is being sent out by a ’Kevin Trudeau’ whom Wikipedia reports has been involved in a lot of felony criminal activity - larceny and credit card fraud. In 1998 he paid over $500,000 for making false claims in his infomercials. Excluding his books, it is alleged he can no longer do infomercials. There is a reason the letter says ’tell no-one’ and the aforementioned information is a good reason why. Yep, it’s a good way to rip off seniors and less knowledgeable individuals. What is even more insulting is his lack of morals in using God’s name in vain. Shame on him! The fax number - (716) 447-7488, is an unlisted phone number in Buffalo, New York. My advice, if you were sent this letter, stay clear! Also interesting to note, the return address is in Dover, Delaware - seems the place is where people send their credit card payments to.
Hi, Everybody! All of You are very special, all people over the world.
My letter was from John. And, he promised that all women will admire me, but I am, actually, a woman....and, I like men and men like me :))) hell, I don't want women to admire and fall in love with me. Besides, lots of money is coming to me everyday without any secret, he he he.
P. S. They bought addresses from other companies.
