They just called with the same dummy message regarding returned item from my bank. I don't have a bank account; therefore, either they have the wrong person, or they're running a scam.
This number called me and left 2 voicemails stating that I was in legal trouble if they did not hear back from me. The guy said his name was Eric Phillips and that he was a paralegal but did not ever say the name of a company and that the paperwork he had had my car and license number attached. Which he then said a make and model that I have never owned. I called back assuming it was a simple mistake. The guy tried to say that I had a bounced check for a bill that I had paid more than 3 yrs ago. I told him that it had been paid and he said he would need documentation faxed to him or I would be subpeonaed for check fraud, which was scary but I didn't understand why he had the wrong info about me if this was a legit call, so I began to Google this number. The number is a landline in NY, Erie county but his message said he was in Saginaw county, which is in Michigan. The corporate office for the place I supposedly didn't pay or bounced a check is in OH. A reverse phone look up on this number is unknown with no company name attached to it. These guys are BIG SCAM artists!! When someone tells you that you will be arrested for check fraud, it catches you off guard, so it's a good scam. It almost got me. How do you report someone to the FBI? Who knows how many peole are taken by this everyday
Called my work place today (not sure who they were calling for) needing to do an employment check - said they were from "GC Services"; which I looked up and says it is a collection agency.
