For info - - a debt collector is forbidden to call a family member or friend to state you owe a bill - - if it's that - - file a complaint with your State's Attorney General.
(716) 650-4502 called. She left a message with my name about a case being prepared against me for her client, whom she didn't name. She didn't name her firm, either. She asked that I call her at the same number to seek a voluntary resolution within a few days or there can be legal action. There are scams like this. Or she could simply be a cagey agent for a debt collector or debt purchaser.
Also received a similar message as above. Said her name is Susan Lehman and she is a licensed mediator and and unnamed company wanted to file an unnamed charge against my name and social security number and if I don't call back immediately she is going to file the proper paperwork to file legal action against me. Did not specify what company she was working for
"licensed mediator" Mediators settle disputes, they don't file charges. District Attorneys file charges. Problem is debt is civil not criminal. So all this piece of trash is doing is trying to scare you into paying. It is called extortion.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I got the same message from Susan Lehman. She's a licensed mediator calling about a case that's being prepared against my name and social security number. She didn't say who she was representing or provide any other sort of information. Probably just another scam debt collector.
Received a call from this nugget art work today. A Susan Wagner claiming to be a legal mediator. Stating there's a case being prepared against my name and social security number for legal action. I hung up on her! I figured it's a scam but how the heck did they get my info!
