We had the "pleasure' to receive approx. 50 phone calls and messages from them, April, May and June of 2008. They were trying to contact my husband who apparently has an unpaid account with a pay day company and they have a civil case against him. They did not have our adress or my husband's full name, they were using the nick name we have on the answering machine.
My husband works in finance business and he knows the laws, he was able to realize very soon this is a scam. When he tried to reason with them, they started screaming, hung up on us, we recorded them and their messages in order to make a complaint to NY Grievance Comitee. Despite the fact we told them they broke the law of our state, stop calling and sent the paperwork for this file, they were not able to comply.
After 2 months of harrasement, one of their calls from a "private suite" number got my husband in a very bad mood so he "blessed" them everything he knew..........they asked for! We haven't got a call since!
I know this is annoing, but this is what they look for, you will say something to help them, like your SSN, you accounts, your adress, they will keep harrass you. Just stand up and tell them this is not working with you, do not give any information, ask for any further contact to be in written.
Everybody should complain to autorities about this scam and abuse. Hopefully, the authorities will get tired and do something about "Burgess Law Firm".
A Mr. Anderson from the Burgess Law Firm left a message saying they started civil proceedings in our county on a pending lawsuit & he needed our attorney's info to prepare a summons that our local court requested. He left a call back number: 18009760898, ext. 327.

"Let’s put Burgess and his criminal debt collectors in jail where they belong."
I have received a couple of phone calls from these people. In the second one, they said they were looking for somebody else (didn't say a name in the first one). I looked them up and found some helpful info, and then called them back to tell them to stop calling me. THe guy had no idea what to say, he was all flustered. It was priceless! Anyways, my sister reports that these people have said the same things they said in my message in an e-mail to her, so it looks like they e-mail people too.
My future inlaws received a message on their home landline, from this miscreant, slimeball stating that, I or my lawyer give them a call. They left a case # and a contact name stating that legal proceedings were going to be taking place against me. Mind you, My future inlaws live on the other side of the country. I've only visited them once ever. I don't even have their home number, nor, have I ever called my future inlaws. ??!!
My fiancee and I don't even have the same address. Yet they some how managed to get that number and they left a message there for me. Interesting. This form of harassment will not be tolerated. My phone number & address is listed, therefore, if they really needed to reach me, they could. I will be waiting for them. I hope they are ready.
