Caller ID shows Harrisburg, PA.  They left a message on my answering machine saying I was eligible for a rate reduction from my electric company, and they were calling about the notice I received with my last billing statement.

PPL is my electric company.  If this were true, PPL would call me.  Not these people.  Another number called 25 minutes earlier, and left the same message:  717-230-1008.

I keep getting calls from this number even though I am on the Do Not Call List.  I wish they would just stop calling me.  Caller ID says Customer Care

Received calls several days in a row, no message. I had enough so I pushed redial. Auto answer "If you would like to be placed on a DO NOT CALL LIST PRESS 1, guess what I did?  Will take effect in 24 - 48 hours. You can do the same-thing, shouldn't have to I'm on the do not call list already. but it beats being harassed.

Customer Care from 717-230-1178 - I don't think so...
Received a no message call from this number soon after getting one from this number:

Starnet Paetec or Paetec Starnet take your pick called yesterday and then just moments ago - again no message.

My research found that they,Paetec were bought up by Windstream which I think is an energy provider. Who we have gotten calls from before:

717-484-8110             D & E Windstream utility scam?       6.13, 7.13 8,13
Adamstown, PA came soon after:
484-359-2848 robocall scam ?
never leaves message.

Since I don't pick up unknown numbers and they don't leave messages, I'd say we are even.

I read an article in the paper in February that basically says anyone in Pennsylvania who has switched electric providers will get these calls from other companies until, and if when ever the Electric providers are deregulated. Doesn't matter who your provider is they have to give out your number. There may be a way in writing to stop it, but if you didn't do it right away you are stuck getting these calls. The whole idea was to let other power companies try an divide the monopoly of one or two big companies. But it back fired because of two things. One) most folks didn't want to switch and Two) Those companies trying to sway you just are not polite. There is a difference between dead air calls or telemarketers telling you that you are a twit if you don't switch to them or asking you politely how they can better your electric rate. It seems most of the hired hands would rather be rude. I don't see them having great success with that tactic. And I don't know other than reporting the number how to stop them. Since they don't clearly identify themselves. Coming up in Caller ID like this latest number will not get me to answer the phone.
