Called telling us we won a Cruise as well, but had to pay $300 per person. We did enter into some raffle which was NOT specified as a trip and I hung up on him after he kept insisting for my credit card information. They were at a comic book convention in Syracuse, NY. DID NOT PAY A CENT! Don't fall for it either.
same story here.....but i paid :( don't ask why it sounded legit to me but im young and don't know better even if i usually refuse these kinda catches. After the call i thought about it and called my bank they told me that these trip things always happen and to just wait for the "box" to come in and fill out the cancellation form, but that my moneys is gone. The hole time i thought about it, but the girl...she sounded so convincing, she played my head like a fiddle. Well i suggest not to take it even if actually get a trip. The thing i don't understand is why the f**** is the gouverment and the people in charge of these shows allow these kind of american bullsh*t scams, money?.
Did you ever get anything back in the mail? I was so tempted to do it, I hung up on them so I could talk to my bf. I even tried calling them back. Im glad I didn't do it!
I remember when I entered the drawing at a beer festival I asked the guy what the draw was promoting and he never was able to give me a clear answer. That should have tipped me off then, but I wasn't really thinking that much and my roommate had already filled out an entry so I did one too. They called both of us about 2 weeks ago I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number, googled it and found all this stuff and was glad I didn't bother. They called me again today and I happened to answer, thankfully I had been smart enough to only put initials on the form so they start asking to speak to s blah blah, based from what I read here I just cut her off there and said we aren't interested thank you and hung up. I think thats what everyone else should do too.
HAHAHA! As sad as it is I fell for this and ended up paying the $300. But I did get some pamphlets and such in the mail within a month. . . . So who knows.
But after I thought about it I just decided to take my losses at $300. By the time I paid for my flight and everything I could spend less and go elsewhere for longer.
I got the call too, as did everyone I was with when we filled out the contest entry. This has happened before, so I had checked with the RCMP fraud website. In Canada, it is illegal to charge a fee on a prize, so I told the woman this and she replied with "It's not a prize, you have been selected for this opportunity." After telling me I had "won".
It is a scam.
