Got this call a few minutes ago from "Heather at card member services" saying there is nothing wrong with my credit cards but to press 1 to lower my interest rates.
Yeah, right, I'm sure it was legitimate that Crispy Clean Laundromat in Brooklyn, NY would be calling to help me with my credit card accounts. Most likely it is someone spoofing caller ID or hacking into a number making calls to fish for credit card and personal information.
If you are naive enough to fall for this obvious scam, press 1 to talk to these criminals and willingly give your credit car, they will surely use or sell your information to steal your identity and run up bills on your credit cards.
When they get an answer machine, it is a hang up. They can’t steal from an answer machine, but they will likely keep the number as a valid number to sell to other criminals or use it to call back later.
