The only people associated with "new york" are the New York Pizza, and New York Bagels down the street from me. :) Time to block! And no, I don't want free pizza or free bagels with strings attached like scams/spams!!!
got a call wanting to lower my interest rate. I tested them years ago. they gave me a card and it MIGHT have had a lower interest rate. Never found out as the site was down for construction and the phone number on the card was not valid. 2 months later, they called and said since I had failed to make a payment, they had closed the card, charged me $300 for that, then offered me a new card, at maximum interest (its been lowered since then), but I would have to pay $500 to open it. there were a couple other charges, which gave a total of $1200 dollars I would have to pay. That maxed the amount out, so I would have to pay a monthly penalty until I paid off my original debt and the interest that accrued in the mean time.
Since it was only a test, I had the money to pay them the original amount and told them to stuff the rest. they told me I couldn't do that, I had to pay the closure fees and such. I told them if they wanted more than what was originally owned ($200 from account I was about to close anyway), they had to take me to court. they hung up and charged my bank the $1400. since I had already talk to the bank, they refuse to pay more than the $200 I authorized. got several calls demanding the rest, hung up when I told them to talk to my attorney.
