I am in Connecticut and just got a call from this number. I do not answer if I do not recognize the caller-ID, then if they do not leave a message I assume they are a telemarketer and I block the number. So this number has been added to my blocked call list.
My phone number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry since August 2003 so if they are telemarketers, they are violating the law.
To block calls like this I got a Panasonic KX-TGE245B that allows me to block up to 250 numbers and/or area-codes. Panasonic has several new 2014 models that will block that many numbers. You simply save the CID to the blocked list. You can also block area codes by adding them to what they call a “Range List” (you are blocking the range of numbers starting with that area code).
There are several types of call blockers & call blocking phones. I suggest you get one so at least you only need to deal with any caller once.
Sounds like the same Indian dude for solar energy, blocked again...im only getting like 1 a week now, used to get one a day, thank Verizon for letting me block has many #'s has I want and its free of charge, keep'em coming [***]
Called in on a familiar looking number(they all seem to be doing that now to try to get you to pick up). Didn't answer. After my out going message, I heard "goodbye" in a mechanical voice and they hung up.
Received call but let it go to machine. Some guy who comes from the other side of the world left a one word message, "Hello" and then hung up. Must be very lonely. Poor, troubled soul.... The number is now blocked on my call blocker device.
I got a call showing as "Staten Is. NY" Didn't recognize so I didn't answer. No message left. From other comments it appears that these calls are originating from a foreign country using spoofed telephone numbers. The DNC registry can do nothing to prevent unwanted foreign scam calls. Only solution is call blocking.
