I use a software called phonetray - not it is not free, but it works...I simply block the number and add a voice reply like "Not accepting calls" or "Not accepting Telemarking calls" among several options. When this number come in, it rings once and that it! I can block up to 1,000 numbers, and accept the same number by adding them to a white list and have the option of adding a name or some other note to let me know who is calling...it displays on the PC screen, announces the caller name and number...nice.....
Honestly, my life would not be complete if I didn't receive these calls. The stress of waking up to a call marked UNKNOWN, running to the phone to find I missed OUT OF AREA's call. Knowing there is someone out there wanting to fix my computer, save me from the IRS, sue me for a bill I dont owe. These are exciting times, so much so, I am giving up my landline after some 40 years of having one. Toodles.....
A spoofed number. When I called back an automated message announced: "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again."
You can NOT block their telephone number ! They call from SPOOFED telephone numbers or a VOIP
telephone number ( voice over internet )
They have the ability to cause a fake telephone number and or name to show on your caller i.d. SO
BLOCKING THEIR NUMBER DOES ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD !
EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET TOGETHER AND FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT LAWSUIT AGAINST
THE TELEPHONE COMPANIES -- ALL OF THEM.
Telephone companies have the ability to stop such calls but refuse to do so ! All they need to do is install equipment.
The telephone companies are selling a service that is defective ! The service does not work / is defective !
The monthly charge on everyone phone bill is bogus ! The service, star *69 service is defective as it allows
the caller to mask their correct name and number / sending fake name and number.
The telemarketers can cause ANY NUMBER / fake numbers / name to show on anyones caller i.d.
