I am in the EXACT same boat. Never missed a payment or was even late. Lost my job in August, send out 30 or more resumes per day and nothing. Capitol One doesn't want to listen, they would rather call 10 x a day, I managed to keep up my payments until unemployment ran out and not they want blood from a turnip. I am at a loss as to what to do.
Capitol 1 uses same tricks as other credit card companies - I set up auto pay which, of course, they did not process or use or whatever reason, so now my interest rate has been increased. I think they must have hundreds of numbers at their disposao with each having a caller ID's showing the city and state, I think they are hoping that you might know omeone from that city and answer the call! I did just that & got a Capitol 1 rep from the Phillipines who had the nerve to ask me for my ss number to verify who I was! I asked her where she was calling from and with reluctance she verified The Phillipines. I told her to have someone from the U.S call me. This upset her and she said that "we will just keep calling you" and then hung up on me.
