Ben Cooper calling stating legal issues and that I should have my lawyer call him back. It sure didn't sound like his name should be Ben Cooper!! Total scam!!
They called me stating my first and last name. I assumed it was serious because they knew my name. They said that I owe the irs almost 4,000$ and if I don't pay I will end up in jail for 6 months. So I asked him what state did I file my taxes he wasn't sure of it.
I received a call from 718-374-6038. They identified themselves as the IRS and stated that a warrant was issued for my arrest as a result of an audit from my 2013 taxes which I apparently received a letter about but ignored. When I stated that I had no awareness of such a letter I was transferred to the "head officer", Kimberly Jones. Both "officers" stated that if I was nice and listened to Kimberly Jones that she could assist me in having the warrant taken care of. The "officers" both were Indian and the "Kimberly Jones" had an accent as well. All were extremely rude and told me if I hung the phone up an officer would be at my home to arrest me within 45 minutes. I stated that I didn't have access to my back account to which they then said, "oh you filed jointly, what is your husband's name?". I at that point recognized this was not legit so I gave them a fake name for my husband (which they found :)!). I kept them on hold while I told them I was "searching for someone to give me the funds". During that time I called the IRS who confirmed that this was a scam and that they didn't audit me and I would have received a certified letter stating such.
If you receive this you should report this to the IRS right away and don't give them any information. I actually blocked their number since they kept calling me back.
