Just got a call from this number and answered it by mistake. Since there was that well known silence for a second, I figured it's a sales call an hanged up before I heard anyone.
Yet another number that I add to my cell phone under the name 'Spam'.
This is part of a telemarketing scam. They called me as well and when I answered, a recording said my car warrenty was almost expired and I could renew it. I waited on hold for 5 min to speak with a representative. When the guy got on the line, he asked if I'd like to renew my warrenty. I said I'd love to but I don't own a new car. He said it's not just for new cars. I asked if they were talking about the 1986 Chrysler 5th Ave. that I drive. He laughed and admitted that the car had to be newer than that. I asked how I got on this call list (in case this call was for another member of my family perhaps?) and he admitted that it was a telemarketing fishing call.
BTW, if you answer the call, there is an option to remove yourself from the call list. Or you can wait to speak with someone. However, the number doesn't work for returning a missed call.
I received a call at 3:41pm on 9/16/08 from (479) 783-4359. No caller id or voicemail. I know they called me a month before asking about a car insurance. I don't own a car so I have no clue how they got my number.
