Caller stated I was being sued by the Dept of Treasury and wanted to know if I needed a lawyer or if I had one and my personal info. I advised I had do indeed have lawyer on hand and would gladly forward them the phone number of the caller and then hung up.
Caller said they were Dept of Legal Services. Said that proceedings were being filled against me tomorrow, and they needed my attorney information. I asked to speak with someone without an accent as this is my legal right as a citizen of the USA. I told him he was full of $#;! because I don't have any legal issues or owe anyone money, and I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry. He then hung up. Then I called back to ask where they are located. The accented women answered the phone with Dept of Legal Services. I asked where they are located and she hung up. I then reported this number to the National Do Not Call Registry.
The same thing happened to me. I got the call at 8am coming from New York. The woman left a message saying she was from the Dept of Legal Abuse of the US Treasury. Enforcement action was being taken against me or my name. She left her name, Jesse Owens, and told me or my lawyer to call back. When I did, the same woman with hard to understand accent answered. I asked for Jesse Owens but the connection was bad and garbled. Then I heard what sounded like a toddler trying to talk. I could hear her talking off and on but couldn't make out a word she was saying. Then she hung up.
I too am on the Do Not Call list but this freaked me out. My husband said it's a scam, so did one of my friends. Don't know what to do.
