Message on my answering machine not clear - only words Spoken clearly was my name, check for me and 718-705-0779 number to call.
This looks like a scam.
I received a call from a law firm - couldn't understand due heavy foreign accent. When I looked up the number, there was no listing. They said I had won $150,000 from some shopping network. Of course, I know that's not possible since I know nothing about shopping network.
I first got a call from 718-705-0779 on my cell from a certain Madison Caldwell supposedly representing a law firm Cohen Silverman & Rowan. She said I had won $ 175,000 but that the check was about to be sent to the state as I did not claim it. She then asked me to call Bank of America that had the check on hold at 202-239-0095 and to give the ID # 8855 and the check # 0347927.
Just another SCAM!!! be careful folks...
same thing as stated above...got a call from a female with a heavy accent stating they had tried to mail my husband a check that was returned and ready to be canceled...he passed away 18 mos ago so I assumed this was another scam...i called the number and asked for the info they were trying to get to him...the first clue was they didn't insist on speaking with him and were happy to tell me they had a check for 175k waiting to be claimed...same Bank of America stuff, ID# etc that was reported before...said they worked for American Shoppers Network and represented several publications including Reader's Digest...i asked if Cohen, Silverman or Rowan still operated the law firm and they said 'yes', but they weren't there every day...i asked to speak to the office mgr and they repeated they were not there...then i said there is someone in charge of the office at this minute who is running the place so let me speak to them and they hung up...clearly a SCAM.
I received a call from Garden Sliver Law Firm (702-418-0437), and they said several months ago I had won 175000 in an American Shopping Network sweepsteak, but I didn't respond. Now the IRS was going to get the money unless I claimed it. To claim it, I would have to contact BofA Reprocessing center department at 202-239-0095, and give them Package ID 8855, and have them verify check # 0347927. Then I was to contact the Law Firm again at 702-418-0437 and have them start the process of claiming the check. I did this, and the Law Firm said I must go to a CVS or Walgreens and purchase a Green Dot Locator Money Pak Reload Card for $625. Then I should keep the card/receipt until I received and cashed the $175,000 check and then I could forward the Green Dot Locator Money Pak Reload Card to the Law Firm.
