Caller gave his name as Daniel Hamilton claiming to be with the IRS, informing me of an arrest warrant for failure to pay taxes. High pressure, needed to settle the account today in the amount $2, 468 using prepaid cards available from a local store in order to avoid arrest and probably jail time. Hung up and called the sheriff. They said this is scam and to not answer a recall. They also kindly reminded me that the IRS does not operate this way.
Got a call 9/19/14 , left message of what sounded like the guy was in the bathroom with all the echo in the voice. Maybe pooping while making the call?? Said he was from the IRS.. Yeah right.. I didn't believe a word. I can barely understand the message because of the way the audio sounded. The guy had an Indian accent. Smells like a scam to me. If I owed the IRS money they be knocking on my door not calling me lol.. The weird part was that he knew my name when I never give out my number to no one and the phone account isn't in my name??
This guy called me at work with the same scam. Something about failing to correctly pay my taxes for six years--total BS. I asked for his number to call back. When I saw the number the caller on this site, I put in a complaint to the IRS fraud site: http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam_ok.shtml
I got this call today. He said he was an attorney & his name was Chris Hudson. He gave me a docket # and said I had to appear in court for money I borrowed and never paid back. $502. I knew this wasn't true but he had all my personal information.... That makes me nervous! how do I report that?
