Received calls from this number 3 times in 1 day. They never leave a message and when you attempt to call the number back it says the number is not in service. Obviously someone using "SPOOFCARD". SpoofCard is a service that you pay for that will hide your number and allow you to call anybody anywhere and have a bogus number appear on that person's caller ID screen that you are calling. If you had SpoofCard you could call your friend and have it look like the White House or the New York Yankees were calling them. This was originally devised to help creditors so that if you owed them money and you were avoiding them they could call you and you would not recognize the number which is usually from your own area code so it looks like a local number is calling you and they would be able to get through to you especially if they knew somebody who you knew they could mask their call to look like it's coming from your friend, your job, your wife or husband, so then when you answer then they say "hey what about that $200 you owe me".
Telemarketers also use SpoofCard in mass robo dialings to see if numbers they have are legit. For example a telemarketing company might have 6000 phone numbers and they can use this SpoofCard service and mask the calls in hopes of finding 2000 active numbers. They then compile a list of the active numbers they uncovered using SpoofCard and then sell that list to various other telemarketers. Bottom line is if you don't recognize the number calling you, whether it's local or long distance don't answer it and don't call it back because the recording is going to tell you the number that you have dialed is not in service BUT CALLING THE NUMBER BACK NOTIFIES THEM YOUR LINE IS A GOOD NUMBER TO SELL TO OTHER TELEMARKETERS.
