This phone caller calls me every chance they get. My question is, Is anyone that offers a phone service and a place to report it going to do anything about it or are we just coming here to [***] and waste our time?
This number called me on average 4-6 times a day for about a week or so. I answered the phone, found a really loud whistle and probably blew out his eardrums. No calls since!
Absolutely correct!
I make it a point to report each and every instance I receive a call like this.
I figure, if they can't hire a live person who is willing to listen to my greeting, they don't deserve any restraint on my part.
I found changing you greeting for your answering machine / voicemail can SOMETIMES help reduce the number of calls. For example, here's my voicemail greeting:
"Hello! You have reached the mobile phone of Greg S_____.
I am sorry to have missed your call. Please leave your name and number and I will call you back as soon as possible.
A note to telemarketers:
This number is on the Federal 'Do Not Call' List. This means I do not wish to listen or speak to you. Due to an increase of telemarketing calls to my cell phone, any and all unrecognized phone numbers will be recorded, researched, and reported to authorities. At this time, please remove this number from your records.
Thank you, and have a good day!"
Sure, it's a bit long, but it not only gets my point across, it also covers my butt if they try to say I never warned them and/or asked to be removed from the records. I also phrase it politely, so they cannot claim I was hostile on the phone. All my bases are covered. Again, this won't take care of all the calls, but it will cut out a few.
