They have called me asking for somebody that used to live at my house before me. They get your number off of these phone books that you can buy that go by address and not by name. I have gotten rid of callers like that before. Tell them you are writing down each time they call whether you are answering the phone or not. do not give your name. Tell them that they are not to call you at this number or any other number, or you will find out who they are and what company they work for and they will be getting a call from the Attorney General of Colorado's office, plus you will be reporting it to the Federal trade commision office. That you will get phone records from the phone company if you have to. Then say goodbye and hangup immediately.
Called today stating that I had outstanding membership dues at a gym, which I had cancelled 2.5 years previous. I had cancelled my contract with that gym and received my refund. Never did get a notice from the gym ever again, or any other mailings.
The collections caller began asking me personal questions, such as how much money I make and how often I get paid these amounts. I refused to pay until I could check my records to sort this out. They instantly offered for me to pay only 75% of the total they wanted. They also wanted my credit card number and hung up on me when I would not give that to them.
That is illeagal per the FDCPA - I work in this industry, tell him to cease and decist other wise you will file harrasment charges insure they know the person they are asking for does not live there and this is now a wrong number. NOTE you can look up FDCPA on the web and see your rights.
This is a 3rd party collection agency. Bunch of collectors and skip tracers trying to collect debts for client. They are a citi auto collector for sure in the mid and some south regions of the USA. Look up FDCPA on web to find out if they are acting in a mannor they are not supposed to. Many times collectors go over the line even though the agency itself trained them otherwise. Either way both are liable.
