Serious tax scammers. History on 800notes. Calls from a variety of numbers. So far as I can see, they are not attorneys , nor are the Enrolled Agents. Or CPAs. Basically they search the public records for existing recorded tax liens, and then cold call the taxpayer . Or they simply cold call businesses to sell tax services. They have a history of not taking “No” for an answer. Some of their agents will assert they are with the IRS. Other times they will say they are Enrolled Agents. A very rude crew. Will call repetitively if you blow them off.
They simply use the magic word "IRS" to try to scare people into buying their services . Just another scammery-scummery tax resolution firm.
In most cases they resolve nothing. They generally take a large retainer fee. In cases where nothing is resolved, the taxpayer still owes the same amount plus increases due to interest and penalties.
Ignore the calls and block them. These people are extremely aggressive. If the callers claim to be in any sort of regulated profession, demand their state ID numbers, or IRS number if they claim to be EAs. Of course they won't be able to give it to you. So simply hang up and block the calls.
I am and Enrolled Agent with the IRS (inactive) and I can tell you that for any sort of complex tax problem, you should only hire members of regulated professions that deal in tax matters. That would be tax attorneys, CPAs or Enrolled Agents. For very complex tax situations, you should hire an attorney who specializes in tax matters and who has advocacy skills.
Anyone with outstanding tax liabilities should contact the IRS collections agent first and see if something can be worked out at the basic administrative level.
As a general rule, tax resolutions firms are bad news.
In any event, this Phoenix Financial Group is clearly a scammery-scummery sort of an outfit.
I wouldn’t hire them for anything.
