This was a Telemarketer wanting to sell a service kind of like "Life Lock", but it's cheaper and called, "Protect Senior ID".
I told them I already had ID protection, and wasn't interested. Still they wanted to send me something by mail, and I told them not to, as anything that comes in gets shredded. I asked for a phone number in case I changed my mind, and where they are located. He said Scottsdale, AZ, and 800-891-7058. So after hanging up, I fired up the internet, to see what the BBB had to say about them. Nothing found on the BBB, but I found their site at: http://www.protectseniorid.com/ .. At the top of their site it says "Western Medical". So went back to the BBB and did a search for Western Medical in Scottsdale, AZ. They say the Business is out of Business.. So at the bottom of their Website it gives an address of American Fork, UT. So did another search for Western Medical in UT, and found that they are aka, KMR Medical LLC, and have an F rating. Seems that people are complaining about them just sending out medical stuff, and charging Medicare for them even if you didn't order them. I was wondering how on their website it goes from Fraud and ID protection to medical devices and what is covered.. Now I guess I know.. LOL Anyways, this seems to be a fly by night outfit, and I will not be doing business with them.
Arlene, I agree with much of what you wrote. Every phone call originates from some phone company. That company is able if it chooses to verify if the phone number is spoofed or not. For example, if the call originates in Boise but has a Miami area code and exchange number, the company should be able to block the call immediately and thus prohibit the call from going forward. The company thus knows whoever is calling is changing the real id to a spoof number. I suggest that not only should the phone company terminate the call immediately but, also block the caller from using their phone. Then the phone company should insist that the spoofer come into phone company headquarters to "unblock" their phone and then arrest them!
keep calling--called back and left message that I have repeatedly left messages about them to the FBI and do not call list..doubt if it works--just will repeatedly tell them I am reporting them.
Received a call at1PM 11.20. Caller ID-Senior Crime Watch. After 20 minutes of interrogation, finally got the service representative to identify the actual company she was representing--Privacy Maxx in Scottsdale, Arizona--an identify theft and privacy management company. Hung up with her and called Privacy Maxx's number-800-854-6147. Told them in no uncertain terms that they were illegally initiating telemarketing calls under a spoofed number 720-452-5598 and that I would be reporting them to the Attorney General's office. Told them to put my number on their do not call list. Don't know if this will work, but it was worth a try.
Caller ID showed SeniorCW, I didn't answer but let it go into VM although no message was left. Definitely a sales/scam call. My number is on the DNC list which is the biggest joke since Batman took on an adversary.
