This number called me this afternoon at 7:05 PM. When I answered, it was a machine asking to speak with the head of the household. It was an organization asking for money for disabled war veterans.
Just got a call from this number, it came over caller id as a city. This is a practice that needs to stop. We as consumers need to have the right to know who's really calling us. I have a question? Has anyone heard in the press that the FTC or the DNCR's ever nab the scammers? They need to go after "the Provider or Manager" of these numbers. Also, it should be a felony to share, sell or rent our personal info for marketing purposes if we opt out. Bashing the caller is worthless on this site. There needs to be us bashing on the root of this. THE PROVIDER of our info. These data collection networks need to be put to bed. When one finds the "Communication" "Network". Post it please along with the phone/email info. Let's reverse the situation and hound them. The runaway train is the source. I've identified 3 networks. Do some digging.
The reason they aren't stopped is they have found a loop hole in the law that allows them to call. That, coupled with the fact, there isn't sufficient funding to enforce the law because all the funding has been cut. If you see this number come up on the caller ID. Answer, without speaking and press the 0.... hold for a few seconds, release, hold down for another few seconds.. keep this up for about ten times and they will have hung up... Wait a little while and a new number will call..repeat the process with the 0 and you should get about a month or two of no call before they try again.
