it's a call from a number with no organizational name looking for handouts for the "VETERANS" Unfortunately, there is no category in CALL TYPE for SCAM. NOTHING ELSE FITS SOMETIMES. PLEASE ADD IT. The closest would be a PRANK CALL.
The closest match is "non-profit organization". I would lobby for adding "commercial fundraiser" as being more accurate.
1) These often bogus charity callers purport to be helping some needy cause. That the alleged "charity" drive is usually a push for profit does not matter. The FTC calls this "fundraising" for the purpose of enforcing the Telemarketing Sales Rule.
2) A prank call is someone asking if your refrigerator is running and advising you to chase it. Stupid time waster but no attempt to swindle or extort something of value.
3) For the six hundredth time, the term "scam" is an opinion, not a call category. This website cannot afford to be seen with an editorial slant. Admin confirmed as much in September 2015.
The moment the drop menu includes a "scammer" or "spammer" choice, every call which is neither -- and merely "unwanted" or "inconvenient" -- will be misidentified by everyone who reports "didn't answer", "blocked it", "hung up", or otherwise did nothing to actually identify the caller .... which is exactly the goal of these database sites.
