This guy called "Brian Lee" called a business and said that the Xcel account was overdue and if a payment wasn't received in 20 minutes the electricity was going to be shut off. He gave a phone number for us to call back to 720-881-1696, but it wasn't the 1-800 xcel number that we would normally call into to pay bills. Called Xcel and reported the scam (after being told the account was up to date).
Claimed to be from Xcel Energy. Stated our account was past due and wanted payment or electricity would be shut off in 2 hours. Called Xcel and was informed our account was up to date
