This guy called "Brian Lee" called a business and said that the Xcel account was overdue and if a payment wasn't received in 20 minutes the electricity was going to be shut off. He gave a phone number for us to call back to 720-881-1696, but it wasn't the 1-800 xcel number that we would normally call into to pay bills. Called Xcel and reported the scam (after being told the account was up to date).
720-881-1696 - Major Scam! Called an employee of our business and said that our Xcel account was past due and indicated they would turn off the power if full payment wasn't received in 2 hours. One little problem with their scam, our Xcel account is on auto-pay (direct debit) from our business account. Confirmed most recent payment came out of our checking account, confirmed Xcel showed our account paid in full, and reported the call to Xcel.
Same as above, claimed to be Xcel power and threatened to turn off the power, but hung up after confronted to provide the account number and name. This time used the name "Allen Grey" at extension 2103.
