These folks called, even though I'm listed with the National Do-Not-Call Registry (strike 1) with a robo-call (strike 2) from the "Institute of Aging", with a B.S. promise of a FREE health emergency monitoring system (strike 3). Turns out, the system monitoring costs $35/month (!) with an extra $9.99 for some extra gimgaw (oh yeah, that is also per month...).
Anyway, these folks were a real hoot, and using my feeble old-man voice (not that much of a stretch...), I had three different salesmen on the phone for a total of 24 minutes, finally landing on a shipping clerk who said my (totally bogus, of course...) CC# came up invalid. After a couple more read-backs, changing a number here or there, I read the bank phone number on the back of the card - mine reads "1-800-National Do-Not-Call Registry". The kicker is, the clerk didn't seem to understand, then asked me if I "...was on that...". THEN, still apparently lost in the ozone, promised to call back when I sorted out my apparent CC problems. I agreed that this would be GREAT idea, and I really appreciated their patience. WOO-HOO - Doesn't get much better than that...
