Caller ID says "INJ AMER VETS".  They leave no message.

The 727 are code comes from scam-centric Florida.  Not a promising sign.

I call back after business hours (using *67 to block my number).  I hear the following, "Hi, you have reached the customer service line for Injured American Veterans' Foundation.  If you'd like your number placed on our do-not-call list, please, press 1 now.  If you'd like to speak to a customer service representative, please, press 2 now."

I select 2 to discover more.  I hear, "We apologize that we're not able to take your call at this time.  Our normal hours of operation for the customer service department are: monday through thursday 9:30 AM to 6 PM Mountain Standard Time with a lunch from 3 to 3:30; and friday 7:30 AM to 4 PM with a lunch from 1 to 1:30.  We are closed on saturdays and sundays.  Otherwise, please, call back during our normal business hours so that we may assist you.  Thank you and have a wonderful day."  I have heard this word for word before.  They have removed the initial line "Hi, you've reached customer service for Corporations for Character."  CfC is an annoying telemarketing firm.  They seem to align themselves with many scumbags.  They call relentlessly from many numbers."

I get lots of calls from scam veterans' charities.  I get none from legit ones.  Pulling this all together, I am assuming this is a SCAM.

Relentless, callers and leave no message. One of the actions that I have chosen to take is that If I can find out who is providing the phone service to these scammers I take the number, plus their location, and report it to the FRAUD DIVISIONS of these companies. I tell them that their phone service is being used for scamming people. It wakes the carrier up and they follow through.  The DO NOT CALL SYSTEM is a joke. It requires one to update your information at least every 6 months and it doesn't stop the unwanted calls.

Yet another poster who signed up for a govt freebie, but was unable to understand what it does.

Fact: The Do Not Call list is NOT a call blocker!
The DNC list is a LIST, subscribed to / purchased by legitimate telemarketers, so they know who not to call. The FCC or FTC do not give away the list to unqualified recipients!

Fact: Telephone numbers on the Registry don’t expire.  You do NOT have to re-register annually.

Fact: Scammers and spammers ignore the DNC list .
Many use "war dialers" to quickly dial phone numbers.  After all, phone numbers are just numbers, and are no secret!  (Arabic numbers were invented about 500 AD, so even stupid scammers know about them by now).

Fact: The DNC list does not apply to NON-sales calls , such as political calls, charities, surveys, debt collectors and businesses with which you have done business with during the previous 18 months.

Fact:  Spam callers can be blocked by getting a real call blocker .
Google (or your favorite search engine) is your friend.
