Also go a call from 727-358-4458 with an ID of "Name Not Found" which left no message. When you attempt to call the number back, just a busy signal for the past hour and since they cannot identify themselves, time to put them on the Blocked Calls list and forget about them.
I received a call from this #. I did not answer, they left no message. Googled #. Got nowhere. Returned call, got recording stating number was no longer a working #...Hmmmmm! NSA maybe? Blocking this # as soon as I can figure out how. The times they are a changin'.
Received a call from this same number on 22 October, at 6:25 pm. Caller ID stated "Name Unavailable". They left no message.
Most of these mystery callers are an attempt to gain personal information about you.
They may not be trying to sell you anything, but a under a ruse of taking a survey.
Some of these callers are simply verifying a working number, in the hope a human voice says "hello".
Then your number rises to another plateau, and is sold, or shared with the marketing firm, or firms who instigated the call to begin with.
More calls from other numbers soon follow, in an effort to see how long you can remain on the line answering questions, and listening to their come-on.
The longer you entertain them...30 seconds, 60 seconds, or longer; dictates where your phone number moves up the scale.
The best advice : check your caller ID, and don't answer the call.
These callers, and the people behind them are very clever.
They use public information available to everyone, demographics, voting districts, school districts, etc..
If you're listed in the 'white pages', too bad for you.
Telemarketers never call economically depressed neighborhoods, only areas with people with expendable income, and retirees.
They follow the money.
The "National No Call" website is broken, and under staffed.
For every legitimate "No Call" site, there are three bogus ones that are happy to take your information and sell it.
Another piece of good advice : Don't register to try and win automobiles, or air conditioners, or anything for that matter at big box department stores, shopping malls, big name hardware retailers...they're all underwritten by marketing firms to get your physical address, phone numbers, and even your email address.
People fall for this trap every single day, and it works.
And if a retailer asks for personal information, and they say "We won't share this with anyone else..." Don't believe it.
Business is business, and there are 'moles' employed at stores, and places of business all around you, and their sole purpose is to clandestinely gather your personal information and sell it to marketing firms.
Last piece of advice : Get an unlisted phone number - it's worth it.
