Got a call on my cell phone at 12:14 pm EDT showing Name unknown today. Did not answer as I did not know who was calling. They did not leave any messages. I hope they are not going to continue to call again. I do have my phones on the do not call list.
Called my cell at 11:07 AM 6/27/11. Missed call, on attempting to return call I got a "number not in service" message. Cell IS listed on national "do not call" database.
I did not read all of the messages after reading enough to know this call was not important. Being able to solicit or send text for a marketing campaign can be legal and is becoming more common. If you sign up for anything be it online banking , credit card application or a free email account. The TOS [Terms of Service] may include permission to send you that material. Read the TOS and use the Opt-out option.
For cold callers, you "should" be protected by the 'Do Not Call Registry', but most marketers when confronted will realize you are not a buyer and then apologize for the mistake saying they will remove your name in hopes you will be satisfied and not report the action.

I got a call a few minutes ago, I pressed 1 to lower my rate (just so that I could talk to a live person). When the woman answered she asked if I had pressed 1, I said yes. She asked how much credit card debt do I have. I asked her what credit card company she was calling from, she replied Visa and Mastercard. I started to say what company she was from and she immediately started naming off banks. Bank of America, Chase, CitiBank ect.... (she named at least 10 others). When I told her I didn't bank with any of the companys she named she hung up. Total SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't give these people any informaiton. I have had at least 10 of these calls in the last two months. It seems to be getting worse. I am also on the do not call list (Big help that is).
