automated message when I answered. "important information about credit card...to lower interest rate...credit card stimulus...."
I called the number back on a landline, another automated message, "if you want to be placed on a do not call list for the number that called you, press 1 now". but no other options. It just repeats. No company name.
Left automated voicemail message. The message began prior to recording so it's cut off. Something about "...next billing cycle. This is your final notice as it relates to the financial stimulus. ... Goodbye." I'm not late on bills. Seems like a scammy scam.
I got a call that came up very strange looking on my cellphone - 9147322580166 (i.e., 13 digits instead of the usual 10). They just called, I did not take the call live, but there was no voicemail message. Then I realized that both 914 and 732 are New York-region area codes (914 in Westchester county, north of NYC and 732 in northern N.J.) When I Googled 914 with the 258-0166 number, I got nothing usable - but 732 plus that number got me to THIS page warning about the "lower your credit card interest rate" scam. Is it technologically possible for a telemarketing spammer/scammer to dial a number with two separate area codes? I also got a similar call the other day from 3092035496695 - another 13 digit number. A Google search of 309 (an Illinois area code) plus 549-6695 yielded nothing - but 203 (a Connecticut area code) + 549-6695 led me to another 800 Notes page about the same kind of "lower your credit card interest rate" scam. Have the spammers/scammers figured out away to add an EXTRA area code up front - in order to possibly thwart Google searches of their numbers that lead to these pages? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
CallerID says "Out of area". No message left. Scammer call. Do Not Call list doesn't work with criminals, It's like passing gun control laws and assuming criminals will think "There's a law so I better not break it!". When there is no profit in scamming people over the phone, the calls will stop.
