This call demonstrates that the DNC call list does not work! I am in Canada and the call is from the US. (Of course, Americans will likely get spoofed Cdn. calls.)
It is possible that they did this to just to get a call back, urged on by their blog website shills to call back stop the annoying robo-calls.
With these call, one can get a list of working numbers with a robo-dialer. Since no one knows who the fax/ marketing callers are. The answered numbers (regardless if you want your number on their list or not) can be collected and transferred to other unscrupulous users or the same group with another name/number. It may be illegal but even if the perpetrators were identified, no one can prove that one group called repeatedly. (Please also understand that it is illegal to ignore the DNC list and it is therefore unwise to believe that these scamsters/marketers will be honest with you and stop calling. ) Call or fax from a US/ foreign number to target the Canadians and use a Canadian number to target the Americans effectively avoids regulations.
Thanks to the internet, long distance phone calls cost next to nothing. Furthermore, they can change their number and name and work this over and over again. (Moronic senior regulators crowing about their success against junk calls are in fact feckless against them. )
Avoid all marketing calls. Just ignore them. No legitimate/verifiable marketer has ever cold called me. Not once in decades.
I receieved the number 1-866-323-9707, press option 1 for Fax to Mail team and they will block your number from receiving these faxes. I was told it would take 24 hours for their database to update.
Hope this helps anyone else who is having their work day interrupted.
