Hackers. Claimed to be from Microsoft in regard to an Send Error report yesterday at 5:00 pm. Asked him for my IP, they gave me 63.192.168.17, totally bogus. Asked for my location which he got right, from my phone number obviously. Asked him for my ISP, totally wrong answer. Asked him if HE was going to ask me to let him onto my PC. He said of course, so he could fix/speed it up. I told him to [***] get lost.
I guess they're back. Caller ID says SIMPLE NETWORK. I pick up and immediately hang up. Then check this site. Don't want it to go to answering machine so they know it's a live number.
Thanks to those of you who got some type of ID - All I got was New Jersey, so I knew it was a scam/spam.
I do not answer anything with just city and state, or state alone in my caller ID.
I heard my answering machine pick up, but after hearing my message which states that honorable calls 'might' be returned...well they didn't bother.
With all the 'various' services offered I am labeling this as a prank, since they aren't even a true telemarketer.
Just saw in another area that this number is also posted to a bogus IRS scam/threat.
From June 11, 2015 -
"Recorded message saying "You have an IRS lawsuit against you", and the automated callback number (425-297-????) was hurried through, and it doesn't match the Caller ID."
So if we didn't have enough to go on before to believe this number is bogus...I think we do now.
