I used Vonage for several years and stopped working with them, since my local cable company provided a cheaper and better service. They cannot tolerate that someone is leaving them. Since that they call mY phone all the time with this number: 732-907-2112.
Working with cable modem is by far better in a sense since your phone is connected directly to the modem and not through a cheap router that Vonage provides and could have many issues.
