Yes this is a Scan: My wife called me crying, saying this guy, Alex White called her on the phone from 360-637-6796 (google says Vancouver, Washington) and told her that she had an arrest warrant because she filed a false tax returns from 2008-2013. He said we were sent a notice in the mail and didn't respond so he had to issue a Warrant. She asked if I (husband) was also on the warrant. He said no just you. Funny, how I would not be on the warrant since we have filed jointly for the past 20 years. All she could think of is being put in jail and not seeing our 4 kids. She was like I have never broken a rule in my life. He was very rude, and in a heavy Indian accent, telling her not to interrupt. He gave her a call back number and told her to contact her tax attorney. We Never file our own taxes. We have used a tax attorney since 1993.He stated it would be very costly to go through the courts and such. She was smart enough not to give him any information and told him she was going to call our tax attorney. I work for the federal gov’t and told her to call the local police to get this information "out there" and to file a complaint with the Treasury Inspector General (TIGTA) http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml. Or call 1.800.366.4484.

At 1:47 this afternoon, I received a message from "Alex White" from Department of Legal Affairs regarding an enforcement issue that has been started on my name. I was urged to call him back, or have my retained attorney call back for me, to avoid a "legal mess." The caller had a thick accent and was difficult to understand. My caller ID for 760-666-1503 said Vista, CA.
I received the same exact "Alex White" Department of Legal Affairs message from 949-783-0717 in Irvine, CA at 10:21 this morning. Others that received a call from this number suspect a scam. See: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-949-783-0717#commentForm
I received a call from 760-666-1503 at 3:10pm PDT on 9-30-2014, supposedly from the US Dept of the Treasury, "office of Legal Affairs" for my daughter. They asked her to call back and ask for 'Officer Robert Price". It did not sound authentic.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.
I received a call from Alex White today with the same message left on my phone. My mother is currently in hospice and is hours or days from dying. I hope that these jerks are prosecuted to the fulliest.
I just received a similar call. Dept of legal affairs. I was told I had pending legal allegations and to call 760-666-1503 immediately and ask for officer rose Gilbert. Of course she answered and proceeded to inform me she was going to issue a warrant for my arrest. I asked her about the charges and she told me I "really goofed up on my 2008" taxes...the numbers I submitted did not match what was reported. She also told me they had mailed me 3 notices that I had failed to respond to. I asked her for the dates: sept 15th, sept 17th, and sept 24th. I asked what I needed to do and she indicated they were going to seize my bank account, put a lien on my house, and issue a warrant for my arrest. Again I asked what I was being charged with. Tax evasion, falsifying legal documents, and failing to respond to the notices...thus leaving her no other choice but to issue a warrant. I asked "what do I need to do"....nothing she said...too late for that. The only thing I could do was to go to the store and get a government issued voucher, cash only to receive, and call her back with the number on the vouchers. I asked to talk with her supervisor, she claimed the only person above her was the "general" and nobody talks to him. She asked if I thought this was a joke..."well actually thinking YOU are the joke." I have Always paid my taxes...and on time! Upon further thought, if there was a discrepancy in my taxes, in 2008, I certainly would have heard about it before now. I pulled up the number on google and found this post. I'm 99% sure this is a scam but couldn't get ahold of anybody at the IRS....I'll try again tomorrow. Sure has me rattled..pissed...and feeling pretty stupid. I am most certain the government does NOT conduct business in this way...trying to settle down! Don't fall for this scam like I did.
