Will this bu**sh*t never stop? Just goes to show how hard it is for "the Feds" to catch these criminals! But, believe it or not, the F.T.C. is "on the job". Consumer Reports recently reported that the F.T.C.raided one of these criminals boiler rooms, that allegedly took in $18 million. That's $18 million! Yet, with the phone companies complicity (by giving the scumbags access to literally thousands of "dead" phone numbers - as you have seen) and with the possibility of making large sums of (illegal) money, these scams proliferate. Hiding behind, while using, all these phone numbers, makes it difficult (but not impossible) for the authorities, allows the scumbags to "spoof" caller I.D.'s, and render "call blockers" virtually worthless. It may sound simplistic, but the best defense is just make use of caller I.D. device(s), and some sort of answering "machine" or voice mail. Then, if you don't recognize the calling number, simply don't answer the call. If the call is legitimate, the caller can always leave a message, and you can call back. If you do happen to get "trapped" into receiving a call that sounds suspicious, NEVER, EVER give out any information about your finances/ bank account(s) credit cards, etc. Also, DO NOT give out ANY PART of your Social Security number. You would be surprised how easy it is to guess the remainder of your SSN ! Hope everyone finds this helpful
BTW, keep reporting these BS phone calls to the authorities! Especially the F.T.C. You aren't annoying them, they need your feedback to "build a case" - as they have, and will continue to do.
I used to report to the FTC. Only one time did I get a person who was polite and acted like they cared. Rest of the time I got typical stop bothering me gov employee. It's not doing any good to report to them. THE ONLY WAY THE CALLS WILL STOP IS IF EVERYBODY AND I MEAN EVERYBODY WILL STOP PICKING UP THE PHONE.
This number and multiple other numbers related to this spammer had called me multiple times of the past two years with the same crap of lowering interest rates. I have reported and blocked each one as they come in. But they are still coming in. Grrrrrr.
