Caller ID says "Lilburn GA". They leave the following message, "This is a very important message about your current credit card accounts. This is your second and final notice to lower your credit card interest rate and payments. Press 1 now to find out the terms, conditions, and associated changes before the next billing cycle. Again, this is your final notice as it relates to the financial stimulus. So press 1 now to take advantage of this today. <pause> Goodbye."
I call back after hours (using *67 to block my number). Their message is, "Press 9 to be put on the Do-Not-Call list. Goodbye." (I never do this because it can actually make things worse)
So we have a spoofed caller ID and they refuse to identify themselves on their outgoing message. Also, what does the few year old financial stimulus have to do with my credit card rate? ... Diddly squat. These are a bunch of red flags which strongly hint at a SCAM.
These people are unaffiliated with any credit card company. The best case scenario is that they initiate a 3-way-call with your credit card company and basically ask them if they'll lower your rates. This "service" can cost up to $2000. You can do this yourself for free. In the worst case, you've given a complete scumbag unrestricted access to your credit card.
