This number calls at least once a week. It shows up as "Convergent Res" on our caller ID. I can pick up the phone and not say a word and a robo voice comes on with "Hello..." My response? Click.

Same here. Calls and does not leave a message. Especially irritating when they call at 8 am on the weekend and holidays. What good is the Do Not Call Registry?
Unless you acknowledge the debt, the statute of limitations is long gone. These people buy junk debt for pennies (literally) on the dollar. Then they hope to call someone and get them to say, oh...I suppose that's mine. Then they will not only get the $20 but they will start tacking on their filing fees, recovery fees, etc. (none of which actually exist) and try to get hundreds from you. If you choose to answer, DON'T acknowledge the debt. Tell them to send proof, in writing, that the debt is yours. They will not be able to do so because when they buy this junk debt they don't get the paper work, just a name and maybe a phone number. But don't listen to me, follow the instructions from the FTC.
If you know this isn't your debt, have nothing to do with these creeps. Block the number, don't answer calls from numbers or persons you don't recognize, and never call them back.
