Yes, I rec'd a call from 770-926-5021 telling me I had been selected to receive a $7K grant from the federal government because I pay my taxes and bills on time, and had no criminal record. I was instructed that the money could only be used to pay bills and/or taxes, or for home renovation. There were other things I could use it for, but I don't remember. They seemed to have my full name and address without me giving them any information at all! I was offered 3 options to receive the money: my bank acct [not gonna happen!], my Visa or Master card [yeah, right!] or in cash. However,in order to received the cash I had to call 202-621-0938 and ask for Johnny Snow, a senior accountant. I asked for a check instead of cash, but was told that a check could not be issued. Hmmmmm. Needless to say, I did not call Johnny. Smelled to me!
I received the same call so I looked up the phone number got the Stiebel family, so I decided to look them up on Facebook and found that family! SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They called me twice today! Thankfully I wasn't around to answer. I get skeptical of strange numbers that don't leave voice mails, so I looked it up. Thank you all for reporting them, so I will know NOT to answer their call!
Why would you give this person your bank number? You deserved to be scammed, my god! First of all, no legit company is going to call people and offer free money. Haven't you heard about all the scams on the Internet? While you are at it, can I have your bank info also? My wallet is a little thin.
Received a call from this number a few minutes ago from some guy calling himself Mr. Stiebel with a very foreign accent. He told me that I had been selected for a government grant of $7000 to be used any way I wanted for a good cause. Of course, he had my name and address but to my knowledge, that's all he had. I didn't volunteer any further information. When I asked him what city he was calling from, he told me Washington, DC, and I knew that the area code wasn't from the DC area. He was also elusive when I asked him questions about where I could find additional information about this supposed grant. He then gave me a supposedly confirmation number (KI141) and told me I had to call (202) 559-0768 and talk to Christi Allen in order to claim my grant. I never called simply because this is one of these too good to be true issues and smelled like a scam. Anyhow, don't give these people any personal information they can use to steal your indentity or money. f a check isn't an option for receiving the money, it's not anything government issues. Furthermore, don't give anybody money in order to receive money--sure sign of a scam--you should tell them to just take it out of the "grant" money being sent to you...period.
