This number called our business at 1142 hours. Caller ID said, "North Brookf MA" so I knew it wasn't likely to be a customer. I picked up the phone but didn't speak immediately. There was a "bloop" sound, indicating they were calling a barrage of numbers and waiting for someone to pick up so the "next representative" could pick up on the call. Some guy said he wanted to talk to the person in charge of the National Grid bill. I asked if he was from National Grid. There was a long pause as he tried to come up with a suitable answer - or, more likely, a plausible sounding lie - and then he claimed he represented the Grid in their something Choice program or some such nonsense. As he was still spouting on, I disconnected. There are so many sleazy so-called energy companies out there that if I want to change something *I* will do the research and call the one I'm interested in. I have no interest whatsoever on a cold-calling company who may be little better than a scam artist.
May be home or cell phone. Our answering machine answered. Heard only child or baby crying and background noise. The call stayed connected, then heard ringing, another "victim" answered. The caller spoke this time. She asked the victim if they use Eversource. So this must be a work-from-home alternate energy scam.
This number called our business again, this time today at 1615 hours. There was the familiar "bloop" of the call being transferred to the next available person and then a woman said she wanted to speak with the person in charge of the National Grid bill, was I that person? I asked if she was with the Grid. She started saying, "I'm calling on behalf of National Grid..." Yeah, I'm not buying that claim. I blew my emergency whistle into the receiver and slammed it back down into its cradle. I don't have time for cold-calling people who misrepresent themselves.
