Called asking for the Mr/Mrs by my fiancee's last name. I said she wasn't here, they said they would call back. Didn't ID themselves; when I tried to call back on the number that showed up on my caller ID 781-656-0232 got the 'out of service' message.
Got a call from this number too. The interesting thing is they give you a website www.baystatevet.com that looks legit. I looked them up on BBB, not registered and are registered with the Mass Attorney General's office as a newly registered charity. Also found an archived article from the Abington MA paper that their area was targeted last March and the police had to put out an alert. Apparently they raise money, and only give 6-9 cents on the dollar to the agency, and that money goes to admin costs, the rest goes to the telemarketer company. There should be a law against this practice. Anyone can open up a charity on behalf of a good cause and get away with it? Something is wrong here.
I just got another call from these "people". I got a call about a year ago and read about who they were. I added them to my phone book with a distinctive ringtone, so I don't have to talk with them anymore ... just let it ring ... needless-to-say, they don't leave a message. I'm in Winchester, MA, by the way.
