SCAM: my fault - i called in response to a screen on my computer saying Windows Defender found potentially malicious code. they had my name, they had my computer number, and appeared to gain access to my computer.
fortunately my internet access went out, so i got rid of them. But they keep calling.
Guy just ripped an old lady out of $200 plus with this scam.
In addition to faking as Microsoft, he/they have used Vision Zone, welphy Walker and SoftwareCity as web sites. At least one is out os AU --- Austrialia which has court action against them.
The phone number is out of Miami Florida, which also leads one to suspect off shore criminal activities.
Just got a call from "Angela" (Indian) with unknown # on Call ID. claimed to be w windows tech support also known as visionezone compliance maintenance department. She was insistent that I go immediately to my computer and log on for her assistance with my preventing a total destruction of my computer within hours due. She kept insisting!!! I hung up and researched. SCAM!
A gentleman with an Indian accent called, saying they received a report that there was something downloaded on my computer that would cause a problem and they wanted to help me clear it off right away to "protect me." I asked how they would have accessed anything about my computer and he just repeated his script. He did say he was calling from Vision and I told him to remove me from whatever list they were using. I got the same call from a different man the very next night.
