SCAM: my fault - i called in response to a screen on my computer saying Windows Defender found potentially malicious code. they had my name, they had my computer number, and appeared to gain access to my computer.
fortunately my internet access went out, so i got rid of them. But they keep calling.
3/11/15 Jut got taken by this scam. A big alert came on my computer that some hacker had or was trying to hack my computer. It was a Indian lady that answered the phone when I called. She led me through the process to clean up my computer and of course my credit card. This scam cost me $250.00 Will call my bank this morning and cancel my credit card. From what I understand, all you have to do is unplug your computer. I will make a police report.
Just got off the phone with Microsoft. They have no idea who these people are. Luckily I only got taken for half of what happened to you. They use the same screens for all people, they are not actually showing what is on your computer. After the Microsoft tech cut them off from having access, they called constantly until I answered and told they I had reported them and gave all phone numbers to the Feds. Stopped my credit card. Once they try to process, it will send up more flags than the 4th of July. Now that that is done I am getting calls for solar power from every state in the union. I guess the no call list is just a joke.
