We got a call from this number today at 1:30 pm and didn't answer. The caller ID was Miami FL. A voice mail message was left which said merely "Hello?" and then hung up. When I called back (our number is hidden by default on outgoing calls) I heard nothing and then a busy signal after several seconds. The number was added to our call blocker. They called again today at 6:19 pm and 7:45 pm. Both times the call was blocked by our call blocker. Apparently they are slow learners.

I received dozens of calls from 786-275-5313 and get someone from India referencing a microsoft problem. When I told him to stop calling me and remove my # from their call list, he told me "you have to pay 199.00 to get off our list". When I told him that is absurd, he repeated his demand and said if I don't you will keep getting lots and lots of calls. Then the coward hung up. How can I make this stop forever?!?!? When I tried to call the # back the call does not go through.....crafty jerks!

PEOPLE, IF YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THE CALLER ID OR NUMBER, DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE AND NEVER EVER  CALL THE NUMBER BACK!

You are playing right into their hands. It's either going to be a computer call, checking to see if there is a live person on your end - then a live person on their end will call to harass you. And the computer/scammer calls are programmed to call you at all different times during the day or night until they get an answer or, eventually, give up. Or it will be another 'solar panel' telemarketer or a scam artist trying to extract personal information from you!

My 85 year old mother lives alone in FL. For years, telemarketers would call her number and ask for my dad by name (he passed away 10 years ago), so she'd freak out whenever that happened, but I still couldn't convince her to get Caller ID.  Then "this nice young man from the Democratic Nat'l Committee" called her for a donation - which she made over the phone USING HER CREDIT CARD. The next time she got her Amex bill, she had a $600 charge from Pep Boys for tires, a $749 charge from Travelocity for 2 tickets to Costa Rica (which were never picked up at the airport), and assorted other charges. Needless to say, she finally got Caller ID....

**********************Seriously, if it is a legitimate call, they'll leave you a voice mail.******************************

They LOVE when you yell at them or beg to be 'taken off their call list' - they THRIVE on it!  When you engage them in conversation, you're making their boring day more interesting!

How do I know this? I used to be one of those telemarketers! Thirty-five years ago, fresh out of college, I worked for a 'company' selling radio air-time for AM stations all over the country, in the guise of "community service  messages"  (i.e. "The blood banks in our area are at a dangerously low level, please go to your local blood bank and donate blood today. This important message has been brought to you by Sal's Pizzeria, where there's something cheesy going on, and it's going on the best pizza in town...." or "Summer's over and school's are open, Mary's Hair Salon urges everyone to drive carefully, stop for school busses, and watch out for our children....."  It was a hard sell, commission-only job, and the owners didn't care what we said as long as we got the sale!  A room full of 20 - 30 year olds, many stoned or on coke (not me, of course - lol), loudly reading our scripts in our best FM Deejay voice, making each other laugh, yelling into the phone 'bottom-lining' them until we got the sale!  If 'Sal' hung up on us, our co-workers called him back throughout the day, to order pizzas for delivery to fake addresses, or they called "Mary's Hair Salon' and made fake appointments, or they called someone back 20 times and hung up every time they answered (also not me). We got off on the people who gave us a hard time!

And so are these jerks who keep calling YOU!  So, don't play into their hands!  Ignore the calls!  Please!  And those of you who actually spoke to them, and said the caller had an Indian accent - that's because most of these companies outsource their telemarketing to India. So that Caller ID that reads 'Miami' that you call back is either a 'non-working number' that was re-routed to show a U.S. number, or perhaps, you are actually calling back India!?  Check your phone bill!  Or better yet - IGNORE THE CALL!  (After the first 6AM call on a Sunday, I turned the ringer to OFF on my bedroom extension).

The "Do Not Call Registry" is worthless, and this 800notes website cannot 'take your name off the list' - that's not what it was created to do. It's here for us to give and get info about these scam calls we've received, so we don't have to call them back to find out if they are indeed, a scam, and to possibly offer advice on how to deal with them. Like I hope I just did. :-)

It doesn't matter. They will just re-route to a different phone number. The FCC is not equipped to handle all these callers!  Sorry to burst your bubble. As I previously said, just ignore the call, don't call it back, and eventually they will move on to harass someone else. Good Luck!
