I have been saying the exact same thing! I hope you don't mind if I pass this along to others in my future posts. There are so many people who are STILL in the dark about the Telemarketer Call Centers (TMCC) and how they work to scam us.
The "Microsoft Tech found something wrong with your computer" scam, or the "We found illegal material on your system and have locked it until you pay us" scam called a 'hijack', or one of the biggest ones, "We're collecting donations for (some charity or needy cause)." scam where the professional fund-raising caller keeps 85-100% of the money YOU 'donate' to them, are all try to scam us out of our hard-earned money through deceitful, high pressure and harassing tactics.
However, they all need one thing for their scam to work in the first place, ..... someone to answer their phone call and listen to their speil. If we do NOT answer in the 1st place, they have nobody to talk to. No speil, .... no scam. No scam, no money. No money, no more profits = No More Telemarketers calls!! They only work as long as WE let them scam us. Unfortunately there are STILL people out there that allow themselves to be pressured into giving away their lives to these scumbags by not keeping informed about these things and the ways to prevent this from happening to them. SO, the rest of us have had to deal with this ongoing problem for decades!! It's something that could have been eliminated years ago if we hadn't let it get ahold of us to begin with!
WE can still put these low-lifes out of business, but it won't be easy. WE have to work together to do it. Hence, 800notes.com, and the Telephone Answering Machine (TAM) modems and programs for our PCs, .... Technology that WE can use against these TMCC's calls! Alot of these programs are free to us, too! It doesn't matter who is calling you, YOU get to decide how to handle that call, and how you want to 'handle' any repete calls from this same number, exchange, or even whole area code (like the 202 Area code). We have been using the "PhoneTray Free" program (No, I do NOT work for TraySoft, but they do make a good free product in v1.39 so we all need to at least know about it.) for the past few years and have had very good results.
Yes, the calls still come in but the known TMCCs are intercepted after the 1st ring and "handled" for us. One & Done! NO speil !! Yet our regular calls still come through because WE have told our 'puter who they are, so THEY'RE allowed. I have even come here to 800notes.com just to HUNT for more TMCC and scammers #'s to add to our 'puters $hit Li$t of over 490 #'s, and it's still growing. Some of these #'s have eliminated 9,999 #'s within an exchange, or even 9,999,999 #'s within a whole area code!!
Thanx for helping get the word out. Realistically, we will probably not be able to rid ourselves of this vermin until the end of the electronic age, but we can keep it in check to a great extent in our own part of this life. It's obvious by now that our government won't, or at least can't, do anything about this problem. THEY have written too many loopholes into the laws that are supposed to protect us from these criminals. That's why the DNC list is basically a big farce and and even bigger waste of time and money ( Surprise? It was put together by a bunch of politicians (= lawyers). DUH! ). This leaves US to handle this problem by ourselves, ..... again! If our government, or the big Communications Companies REALLY wanted to, they could take out this problem in short time, but someone is making too much $$$ FROM it to do anything About it.

We got another call from this number today at 5:49 pm. The caller ID is still Miami FL. This is the sixth time they called in four days. As I already posted, the number is now blocked by our call blocker. For slow learners they certainly are persistent. When I called back (our number is hidden by default for outgoing calls) at first I heard nothing but after a long pause I heard a busy signal.
